Notion: Understanding User Needs

Introduction

Notion.so is a whole new all-in-one file organizer designed to help users keep all their files in one place, which can be easily accessed, edited, collaborated with others, and it supports almost all common file formats. It works on web, mobile, Mac, Windows. Users can gain access to their files almost everywhere.

In this project, I conducted the qualitative research methodology involving user interviews, observations, and affinity walls, which is also called “contextual inquiry”, to help with product improvements from a user-centered view.

The research focus: Note-taking feature of Notion.so. Findings are presented with recommendations provided in the report.

This is also a preceding research to understand better to the usage of Notion for the development of Notablog, a next generation local based blog system created by Alexander Wang.

Role

I worked as a user experience designer on this report to understand user needs, desires, and preferences in a way that supports the design improvements of the products.
